Chorus students sing about Bicycle Safety

In chorus, students were challenged to take some of our current repetoire and rewrite the song lyrics to promote bicycle safety. In this video the group uses the country hit "There's a Hero" made popular by artist Billy Gillman for the melodic background of their song lyrics.

Cavalier Chorus Rocks!

The Chorus keeps busy these days learning note names and labeling musical symbols. We are also singing and analyzing top 40 hits like WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD, SOMEWHERE OUT THERE and THERE'S A HERO. Right now they are working on Haydn's THE HEAVEN'S ARE TELLING in 3 part harmony. This week they will be designing posters that share information about the life of Classical composer Franz Joseph Haydn!

MONOLOGUE MADNESS

School is in session and Theatre Arts students are quite busy preparing for thier first monologue performance of the year. As they share their performances with the class students are being assessed in the areas of Vocal Projection, Vocal Pacing, Characterization, Poise/Stage Presence, Concentration, and Memorization. These first performances provide me (Ms. Vogtman) with a basic idea of each student's strengths and weaknesses in acting. I will use this information to guide me in working with each individual so that they grow both in skill and in confidence. I've posted impressive monologue performances from some of my students.

The Cavalier Chorus is off to a FAB start!

The Cavalier Chorus spent the first week of school reviewing the basics of singing and note reading. We spent some time learning about singer/songwriter John Mayer, composing two measure melodies and counter melodies, and creating our own lyrics. The video posted is a group of 7th grade ladies who decided to write song lyrics dealing with GOING GREEN!
